At 12.21 today, the property owner headed to repossess the Mount Regency apartment located in Tuen Mun.
When she entered the apartment, she found that her former tenant had left behind four cats.
She suspected that they had been abused and contacted the police for assistance.
When the police arrived at the scene, they contacted the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA).
It is understood that the previous tenants were a married couple, and the landlord came to repossess the property over a rental dispute.
However, she returned to the apartment only to find that the tenants had already moved out and left behind three domestic short-haired cats and one exotic breed cat.
The four cats were deemed healthy, according to the SPCA officials.
There was also food and water in the home, showing that there had been no abuse.
The landlady then took custody of the four abandoned cats.
