More than 600 overseas institutions, including over 300 public universities in Germany, recognize the qualification of Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) exams, the Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority (HKEAA) said on Thursday.
This comment came after lawmakers were concerned regarding overseas recognition of the HKDSE results at universities.
The HKEAA responded and stated that up until now, there have been over 600 overseas institutions that have recognized HKDSE results, and there have been no schools that stated that they would stop recognizing the exams.
In Germany alone, there are over 300 public universities that recognize the HKDSE results.
The HKEAA stated that the number of schools recognizing the exams has steadily increased since the first ever edition of the HKDSE, and as a response to the core subject optimization measures, the HKEAA is contacting universities and higher education institutions around the world to update the admission requirements for the HKDSE.
As of January this year, the latest admission requirements of more than 220 institutions have been published on the website of the bureau.
Some institutions need time to review and update relevant admission requirements, with the HKEAA closely following up.
