Biker injured in collision with red muntjac in Sha Tin

A biker got injured after she crashed into a red muntjac in Sha Tin early Sunday morning.

Police received a report at midnight that a motorcycle traveling along the Sha Tin Heights section of Tai Po Highway towards Kowloon hit an animal suspected to be a goat near Keng Hau Road in Tai Wai.

The 30-year-old female biker fell to the ground after the collision. She was conscious and suffered injuries to her shoulders and feet.

The biker was taken to Prince of Wales Hospital by ambulance for medical attention.

It is understood that the hit animal was a Southern Red Muntjac, also known as a barking deer, and the remains were taken away by the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department staff.

Officers are investigating the incident.
