Uniformed police officers will board buses at different bus stops to carry out identity or even security checks.
They could also ask suspicious passengers to get off the bus for further investigation.
It was learned that the trial scheme was proposed by Rupert Dover, the regional commander of Kowloon West, during a high-level meeting of the police force.
The trial scheme aims to fight bus crime and upgrade the force's mobility to combat criminal activities, according to local reports.
