The Hong Kong leader's comment came after the Shenzhen government set to provide consumption coupons to Hong Kong and Macau tourists in order to attract them to go northward for spending, at a time when Hong Kong would like to boost its night economy.
The measures launched by the Shenzhen government also included encouraging traders to offer reward redemption, appointment and other services to Hong Kong and Macau people with Home Return Permit, along with extending the use of e-wallets in the city.
Stating Hong Kong and Shenzhen are part of the Greater Bay Area, Lee said it was good to promote exchanges between the two places. He added that the measures would facilitate travel between the cities and benefit their competitiveness.
Lee added that he viewed the rising trend of outbound travel of Hong Kong people in a pragmatic manner, and that the government should face the trend by enhancing the attractiveness of local hot spots.
He emphasized that "Night Vibes Hong Kong" is a long-term campaign, and efforts must be made to change the living habits of citizens during the three years of the epidemic.
