Octopus Cards Limited reminds citizens to be aware of phishing emails with hyperlinks directed to an unauthorized website that requests users to provide personal information.

The phishing email, claiming to be sent on behalf of Octopus Limited, asked receivers to click on the so-called “claim link” to get the refund from the company and added that the link would expire in 48 hours.
Octopus clarifies that it was not the sender of these emails and has no connection with the contents mentioned. It reminds the public to be alert to any email or message that contains an embedded hyperlink or a request to enter personal information.
The company advised customers who have any concerns or have provided personal information through the unauthorized website to contact it at 2266 2222.
Octopus has also reported the case to the Hong Kong Monetary Authority.
