The weather watchdog said Monday that Saola, centered about 460 kilometers northeast of Manila at noon, has intensified into a super typhoon and will move in the general direction of the southern part of Taiwan to the Luzon Strait in the next couple of days, according to the forecast track.
The Observatory said that as Tropical Cyclone Haikui located east of Saola may further develop and interact with Saola, the uncertainty in the subsequent movement of Saola is relatively high.
Under the influence of Saola, it will be very hot in southern China in the middle and latter parts of this week, while it will be windier with a few showers over the coast of eastern Guangdong towards the weekend.
Meanwhile, Haikui will move in the general direction of the vicinity of the Ryukyu Islands in the next few days.
