Acting Senior Scientific Officer (Forecast Operation) Lam Hok-yin said on a radio program today that Doksuri is currently located 1500 kilometers from Hong Kong and is forecasted to move within 800 kilometers on Wednesday.
He added that it might move towards the coast of eastern Guangdong afterward, while there is also a chance of edging closer to the vicinity of the southern part of Taiwan.
The weather watchdog will determine whether or not to raise the tropical storm warning based on Doksuri's path and strength, Lam said.
He stated that under the influence of the outer subsiding air of Doksuri, the weather would be persistently very hot over southern China midweek this week. Showers and squally thunderstorms triggered by high temperatures will affect the region.
Lam also urged individuals planning to travel to Taiwan, Fujian, and Guangdong to pay attention to weather changes.
