Police held a drill at Hong Kong City Hall on Wednesday to enhance the communication and response of officers in dealing with terrorist attacks.
The exercise simulated that several terrorists broke into City Hall where a large-scale celebration was taking place, and launched a terrorist attack.
Officers swiftly made tactical interventions and subdued the terrorists to rescue citizens, evacuate public members, and resolve the crisis.
Some students were also invited to participate in the exercise to elevate their counter-terrorism awareness.
The counter-terrorism exercise, codenamed "purpleflame," has more than 200 participating officers from the Operations Bureau, Emergency Unit, Police Tactical Unit of Hong Kong Island Region, Counter Terrorism Response Unit, regular police officers, and auxiliary police of the Central District.
The head and members of the delegation of the Volunteer Special Constabulary of the Singapore Police Force, and the Chairman and members of the Wan Chai District Fight Crime Committee were also invited to observe the exercise and visit the new mobile command post.
