Results for this year's Secondary School Place Allocation were announced today, with 80 and 91 percent of students being allocated their first choice and top three choices, respectively.
Yaumati Catholic Primary School (Hoi Wong Road) hit a record high in students who were allocated their top three choices, reaching 94.7 percent, while those who got their first school choice also reached 81.82 percent.
A student surnamed Kwok, who was allocated his first choice of Wah Yan College Kowloon, stated that he would celebrate by eating a hearty meal with mother.
Another student who will also be studying at Wah Yan said he could not sleep yesterday night and he is excited about his future school life after getting the results.
However, some students were seen crying as they could not achieve their expected results.
Cheung, whose son was allocated to the second school choice, stated they will head to the school of their first choice for "door-knocking."
Many parents view the quota of "door-knocking" as a last resort for admission for children who fail to get into their choice of schools.
Around 50,508 students received the results of the Secondary School Places Allocation today - 1,060 students more than last year.
Students must report to the allocated secondary schools on Thursday or Friday for registration.
