Ming Pao reported that the girl has passed away tonight citing two independent sources.
The girl was reported as a critical case on Sunday. She developed symptoms and was taken to Prince of Wales Hospital and then Union Hospital on Saturday.
She was later transferred to the ICU at the Hong Kong Children's Hospital as her condition soon took a turn for the worse. Despite her critical condition, she was not using an artificial lung machine.
This afternoon, the Hospital Authority reported that she was still in critical condition.
The Ming Pao report cited sources from the church and said that the girl “has turned into an angel to protect her family.” Meanwhile the mother, who just gave birth to a baby boy, is now undergoing home isolation as she has been listed a close contact.
If confirmed, the death of the three-year-old girl would be the second young life taken away by Covid within the week, following the death of a four-year-old boy who lost his consciousness at his Yuen Long home and eventually passed away at Pok Oi Hospital.
