Luke Middlebrook takes a look at the markets for the Sha Tin all-weather track fixture at Sha Tin on January 21.
Legitimate Favourite - Race 2 No 4 Run Run Timing
Run Run Timing has found his feet since joining Ricky Yiu and a win in this grade does not look far away.
He has placed twice from four runs for the stable, and he was better than the bare fourth last time after being slow away and giving away too much start, still finishing off strongly.
The set-up looks kind again. If a couple of the key rivals are forced to work, the map can fall his way. At around $6 he is a loose favourite, but one that appeals given he has not started longer than $4.7 this campaign.
Best at the Odds - Race 3 No 8 Glaciated
Glaciated has been a different horse since the tongue-tie went on five runs ago, but off a last-start seventh that is easy to forgive, edging close to $9 today looks an overreaction.
Drawn the outside at this course and distance, he blundered at the start and lost ground, then raced keenly and had to be steadied near the 700 metres to avoid another runner, but he still kept finding over the concluding stages.
His maiden win prior reads well and the form has stood up since by runner-up Straight To Glory and third place-getter Amazing Partners.
Back into barrier 2, he gets a far cleaner map and can take up a trailing spot behind what looks genuine speed, which gives him every chance to outperform current market expectations.
Avoid at the Odds - Race 5 No 1 Supreme Sea
Supreme Sea can win, but the price has gone. If the $4 on debut was missed, it is hard to justify diving in at the short odds now. Ever Luck backers can relate.
The only upside here is a late ease. Without that, the card provides better angles. The short quote about Supreme Sea can be the mid-meeting breather rather than a forced play.
