Secretary for Security Chris Tang Ping-keung on Thursday confirmed the death toll from the Wang Fuk Court fire has risen to 168—the final figure that will not be updated. Victims include 1 firefighter, 2 renovation workers, 5 construction workers, and 10 foreign workers.
All were identified through scientific methods such as dental records.
Police are investigating the causes of death and will submit a report to the coroner upon completion.
If the coroner orders an inquest, victim's details will be disclosed during the proceedings.
At this stage, out of respect for the families’ wishes and in line with past practice, the full list of names will not be released.
