Saint Francis University appoints Stephen Cheung as new president

Saint Francis University on Monday announced the appointment of Stephen Cheung Yan-Leung as its new president, effective immediately. 

Cheung, a respected figure in higher education, expressed enthusiasm for leading the young and dynamic applied sciences university, known for its leadership in nursing and social work training. 

He aims to contribute significantly to the future development of Hong Kong and the nation.

The Board of Governors Chairperson for Saint Francis University, Cardinal Stephen Chow Sau-yan, welcomed Cheung, praising his distinguished academic achievements and deep understanding of the institution’s strengths and aspirations. 

Chow emphasized Cheung’s commitment to advancing the university’s mission and driving its progress.

Cheung previously served as president of the Education University of Hong Kong from 2013 to 2023 and held roles as dean and chair professor of finance at the Business School of Hong Kong Baptist University.
