Hang Seng Index closes lower on Thursday on US rate hike

Hong Kong stocks closed lower on Thursday, following an interest rate hike in the US.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index fell 109 points, or 0.4 percent, to 24,604 points at the close. 

The market turnover was HK$185.6 billion.

The Hang Seng Tech Index was down 0.3 percent to 4,310 points.

In the mainland, the Shanghai Stock Exchange Composite Index dipped 0.4 percent to 3,875 points, and the Shenzhen Stock Exchange Component Index dropped 0.3 percent to 13,409 points.
