Higher tech stocks lift HSI at the opening

Hong Kong stocks rebounded in the morning trading session on Monday after dropping below the key 23,000-point mark last week, lifted by tech giants.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index rose 155 points, or 0.69 percent, to 22,827.

The tech gauge jumped 1.6 percent to 4,323.

Tech heavyweights rallied, with Alibaba (9988) and Tencent (0700) rising 2.5 percent and 1.3 percent, respectively.

NetEase (9999), Baidu (9888), and Meituan (3690) also climbed 4.1 percent, 4 percent, and 3.5 percent.

Trip.com (9961) went up 4.5 percent, marking the best performer among blue chips. 

However, the laggard, BOC Hong Kong (2388), slipped nearly 3 percent at the open.
