Cultural think tank and R&D hub Serakai Studio will unveil its new cultural test lab, GOLD, with the inaugural group exhibition “CERTAINLY” in Wong Chuk Hang, Hong Kong’s innovative contemporary art district.
Housed at street level in a former bank and jewelry shop, GOLD pays homage to its past while reimagining new possibilities for cultural spaces.
Curated by Tobias Berger, co-founder and curatorial director of Serakai Studio, the exhibition explores the beauty of uncertainty, taking inspiration from artist-composer La Monte Young’s seminal 1960 instructional work, Composition 1960 #10.

The exhibition brings together a diverse group of local artists, including Pak Sheung Chuen and Lousy, as well as Macau-based artist Weng Io Wong.
Other Asian artists include the Korean and US-based Young-Hae Chang Heavy Industries and Shinro Ohtake from Japan. Beyond the region, the exhibition features Peter Robinson from New Zealand and Mexican creative Santiago Sierra.
Across different media and approaches, each artist reflects on the impossibility of perfect prediction, while the creative space that emerges when systems, structures, and expectations begin to fracture.
“Our inaugural exhibition embarks on a voyage into uncertainty itself: the many ways a straight line shifts and drifts,” said Berger.
He stated that “CERTAINLY” aims to celebrate the uncertain outcome and the space between what is planned and what unexpectedly unfolds, rather than steering away from it before we even know what it might become.
Serakai Studio animates Serakai’s activities, powers its cultural initiatives, commissions projects and exhibitions, and informs its long-term growth strategy.
Curatorially driven, GOLD will host an independent program that bridges multiple disciplines across culture and the creative industries. It is equal parts exhibition space, concept incubator, and gathering point where disciplines can mix, collide, and reshape one another.
The exhibition will run from March 20 to May 3, with opening hours from 12pm to 6pm, every Wednesday to Sunday. GOLD is located at G/F Remex Centre, 42 Wong Chuk Hang Road.
