Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu on Thursday expressed his gratitude to the outgoing secretaries for their long-standing service and praised their successors for their leadership and communication skills, as well as their commitment to reform.

The announcement followed the removal of Kevin Yeung Yun-hung, Secretary for Culture, Sports, and Tourism, and Lam Sai-hung, Secretary for Transport and Logistics, earlier this morning.
Rosanna Law Shuk-pui has been appointed as the new Secretary for Culture, Sports, and Tourism, and Mable Chan Mei-bo has taken over as the new Secretary for Transport and Logistics.
At a press conference with the newly appointed secretaries, Lee expressed his appreciation to Yeung and Lam for their years of dedicated service to society, thanking them for their contributions and wishing them well in their future endeavors.
Lee highlighted that both new secretaries have accumulated 35 years of experience in government service, noting their strong leadership and communication skills. He emphasized their shared vision for reform and their alignment with his governance philosophy.
He stated that the changes were made after a period of observation and consideration of the needs of his future team to enhance governance and maximize benefits.
Lee remarked that following the challenges of the pandemic and the social unrest, Hong Kong needs to catch up on time as well as the results. He expressed optimism that the new secretaries would significantly contribute to serving society and boosting the economy.
He concluded by stating that the new secretaries' proactive approach and effective communication skills are well-suited to his policy philosophy. He believes their addition will foster unity within the government team, allowing for a synergistic approach to further contribute to Hong Kong's development.
