The two jobless defendants are Xue Shanshan and Leung Lai-wa; the former has a two-way permit and the latter a Hong Kong identity card.
The kidnapping charge accuses them of forcefully taking a three-year-old boy “X” against his will on the 2/F of TKO Plaza on Wednesday (Jul 3) with intent to procure a ransom or benefit for his liberation.
Appearing before principal magistrate Don So Man-lung, both of them required a Putonghua interpreter and later said they understood the charge.
Xue didn’t apply for bail while Leung did but her application was rejected by magistrate So.
So later adjourned the case to September 23 at Kwun Tong Court as requested by the prosecution. The duo continues to be remanded in custody.
