The SAR government announced on Tuesday the reappointment of 54 members of the Chief Executive's Policy Unit Expert Group and the appointment of five new Expert Group members, with the term to be effective for one year starting from May 30.
The five new members include Ba Shusong, Managing Director of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited, Jonathan Jia Zhu, Partner and Co-Head of Asia Private Equity at Bain Capital, Bonnie Chan Woo, CEO of Icicle Group, lawmaker Tang Fei, and Professor Naubahar Sharif at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
Meanwhile, two members from the previous term of the expert group are not being re-appointed.
They include former Chairman of Cyberport Lee George Lam, who is wanted by the Vietnamese government for financial fraud, and Eva Cheng Li Kam-fun, who retired from the position of president of the Our Hong Kong Foundation in 2023.
The Head of the expert group, Stephen Wong Yuen-shan, said the expert group and its members maintained positive and efficient interactions over the past year, and he looks forward to the Expert Group members working together in tendering expert views and new ideas for the longer-term development of Hong Kong in the coming year.
“The CEPU will also continue to reach out and tap into the views from all walks of life in society to assist the Government in forging 'A Vibrant Economy for a Caring Community'." Wong added.
