Crane tipper truck collides with overpass in Kwai Chung

A dump truck that hit an overpass with its mounted crane arm caused traffic congestion on Container Port Road in Kwai Chung on Tuesday morning.

The accident, which happened at around 8 a.m. this morning, saw the truck traveling towards Mei Foo hit the MTR overpass, with police officers saying that the crane arm mounted on the truck was not sufficiently lowered.

The truck landed on its side after the collision, with firefighters called to the scene to extricate the trapped driver. The driver was uninjured.

MTR service was not disrupted by the accident.

As of 10 a.m., all lanes of Container Port Road South (Mei Foo bound) near Container Port Road South Roundabout No.1 are still closed to all traffic.

Motorists are advised to use alternative routes.
