Rita Li Yuk-yi, Sales and Marketing Director of the Octopus, said in a radio program that distribution of the first installment of HK$2,000 has been done smoothly, although a small number of customers thought the vouchers would be automatically deposited onto their Octopus cards.
She reminded citizens who have chosen to receive consumption vouchers through Octopus to go to subsidy collection points installed at convenience stores or MTR stations to collect their vouchers.
Octopus has optimized the arrangement so that customers who have not used their Octopus for a long period of time can activate their Octopus as well as collect the vouchers collection points at MTR stations on Friday.
Li believed that most of their users have used up the first installment of vouchers as many customers have spent over HK$2,000 with their Octopus between August and mid-September.
"Many people have added more (stored value to their cards) to purchase household appliances or electronic products," Li said.
