Earlier date for full operation of Tuen Ma Line

The full commissioning of the MTR's Tuen Ma Line could be brought forward to the third quarter of 2021, the Secretary for Transport Frank Chan said today.

“By then, the Kai Tak to Hung Hom section,will connect with West Rail Line and Tuen Ma Line phase one. This will further improve connectivity between the northeast New Territories and the urban area, and relieve the pressure on the transportation network,'' Chan said.

Stage on opeerations of Tuen Ma Line between Kai Tak, Diamond Hill, Hin Keng and Tai Wai, began on February 14.

The entire line was not expected to open until the first quarter of 2022.
