A new top leadership for China's Football Association was announced yesterday, following a corruption probe that has swept up some of the country's biggest names in the sport.
Song Kai, formerly of Liaoning province's sports bureau, will be the new CFA president, the People's Daily newspaper said.
The CFA also elected a new executive committee at the same meeting in Beijing.
Song said the CFA would "be more united, work harder, and become more open, pure and courageous," Chinese media reported.
"It will push China's football reform and development to a new level one step at a time," he was quoted as saying.
Sun Wen, Yuan Yongqing, Yang Xu and Xu Jiren were named CFA vice presidents, Xinhua reported.
Song's predecessor, Chen Xuyuan, was formally charged with "accepting bribes" last month.
A probe into Chen was announced in February by the government's sport agency, which accused him at the time of "serious violations of discipline and the law."
Former national team coach Li Tie was charged with corruption in August.
Meanwhile, Lionel Messi's Inter Miami will play two games in China next month as the club looks to cash in on the signing of the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner.
Miami missed out on a place in the MLS playoffs and will conclude their regular-season campaign against Charlotte on October 21.
The team will play two Chinese Super League teams in friendly matches, first facing Qingdao Hainiu on November 5 before playing against Chengdu Rongcheng three days later.
