Liddell's legend lives on

An exhibition commemorating the legendary Scottish athlete Eric Liddell opened at the Exchange Square in Central yesterday and will last until June 27.

The Eric Liddell 100 is a project comprised of events and activities that aim to secure, cherish and celebrate Liddell's legacy, with this year being the centenary of Liddell's historic success at the 1924 Olympic Games in Paris.

Liddell was viewed as China's first Olympic champion as he was born and died in China.

The project is led by The Eric Liddell Community, a registered care and specialist dementia charity based in Edinburgh, close to where Liddell lived and taught during his time in Scotland.

The organization values the idea that any individual can make a positive impact on the world if they approach challenges with passion, compassion and integrity.

The Olympian was also a rugby player nicknamed "The Flying Scotsman." He strived to help others and encouraged compassion even in competitive sporting and challenging environments.
