Typhoon ideas fit to a tea

The names of a popular drink and a landmark bridge could be names of typhoons that come with Hong Kong characteristics.

That finding came the Observatory announced the winners of a typhoon competition, with 40 names shortlisted from the suggestions from the public. Twenty were voted into a reserve list of names.

Milktea received the highest number of votes with 15,750, followed by Tsing-ma with 15,127 while Fo-lung (the Chinese name of the fire dragon that dances at the Mid-Autumn Festival attracted 14,810.

The list also included Dim-sum, Siu-lung (the stage name of martial arts superstar Bruce Lee), Neon and Hoi-wai (the now-deceased killer whale that was a popular resident of Ocean Park). And Junk Boat was an obvious choice.
