Pop culture exhibit with a twist

Ever imagined how people in the future will look back on our present pop culture? An exhibition, Dimensional Civilization Archeology Project: The Temple Hidden in Infinite Dimensions, by local artist To Kai-on, will provide exactly that.

It is the latest phase of To's ongoing project, where he crafted fictional pieces into fictional historical artifacts using traditional ceramic molding techniques.

These fictional pieces are characters and props selected from sci-fi, anime, tokusatsu and films that are iconic to pop culture and were his childhood objects of admiration.

With the help of an augmented reality game, the exhibits will simulate archaeological discoveries of our present time by future generations.

"To conjure up an imaginary archaeology and offer a future perspective with an augmented reality game to look back at today and perceive the interconnection between the past, present and future of civilization," the center said.

The free exhibit will run until February 26, at the Visual Arts Center in Central.
