Leslie Cheung goodbye show closes

Trailblazing singer and movie star Lesley Cheung Kwok-ming was signed off from his legion of fans once more with the closing of the Miss You Much Leslie exhibition after more than 370,000 visits by admirers.

Opened on March 29, the six-month show featured 61 personal items loaned by Daffy Tong, the long-time partner of bisexual Cheung, that were curated by three close friends - Florence Chan, William Chang and Wing Shya.

The exhibits included memorable photographs, records and classic stage costumes.

Tong and Chan combined on Tuesday's closing day to thank everyone for their support for the goodbye show at the Hong Kong Heritage Museum.

Cantopop and Mandopop performer Cheung died by suicide at 46 years of age by jumping from the 24th floor of the Mandarin Oriental hotel on April 1, 2003, when he was suffering from severe depression.

Government officials said more programs promoting the SAR's pop culture will be going on a bill that will not be limited to pop concerts and screenings.
