Uspace clears the air over unpaid wages

Uspace Technology (1725), formerly known as Hong Kong Aerospace Technology, said reports that it did not pay workers who carried out fit-out works in its leased premises in Tseung Kwan O were not true.

The company said the incident concerning unpaid wages is solely between the main contractor and workers who carried out the fit-out works. The group is not and should not be liable for unpaid wages as it has paid the main contractor for all the works accomplished as of yesterday, it said.

Several company's directors resigned last November, including Executive Council member Jeffrey Lam Kin-fung, former Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury Ceajer Chan Ka-keung, and former Secretary for Justice Rimsky Yuen Kwok-keung.

And nine directors were appointed, including a member of Dubai's royal family and an astrophysicist who worked in the European Space Agency for 35 years, expanding the number of its directors to 17.
