Martial arts chivalry comes to life

Renowned sculptor Ren Zhe brings the novel characters of Louis Cha Leung-yung - popularly known as Jin Yong' - to life.

They are currently displayed in Edinburgh Place, Central, and Hong Kong Heritage Museum.

To commemorate the 100th birth anniversary of Jin Yong, who was a famous Chinese wuxia (martial arts) novelist, the sculptor crafted 22 of his well known characters. Jin Yong wrote 15 novels with nearly 1400 characters.

The dynamic and animated sculptures depict martial arts prowess, iconic moments and awe-inspiring costumes from the books.

The sculpture of Chen Jinnan, one of the important characters in the novel The Deer and the Cauldron, was unveiled yesterday on the north platform of the Kai Tak Cruise Terminal.

The exhibitions across various venues will run until October 7.

Meanwhile, Kai Tak Sports Park is set to open early next year and is expected to host many local and international events.
