The SAR government is launching a series of roving recruitment talks at universities in Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Xiamen, and Quanzhou starting today. The goal is to attract more Hong Kong students studying at mainland universities to join the civil service.
Secretary for the Civil Service Ingrid Yeung Ho Poi-yan announced that four government departments will be visiting three mainland universities over the next three days. The recruitment drive will include mock interview sessions.
A team led by Hermes Chan Shun-hee, Director of General Grades, will be conducting the recruitment talks. Around 10 officers from the Civil Aviation Department, Civil Engineering and Development Department, Highways Department, and Leisure and Cultural Services Department will introduce over 10 civil servant positions, as well as positions for civil service lifeguards and contracted lifeguards.
Yeung highlights two key features of this recruitment campaign. "Firstly, it marks the first time multiple departments have collaborated to attract talent from mainland universities," she said.
"Secondly, the inclusion of mock interview sessions is a new initiative to help Hong Kong students prepare for the civil service application process."
The government had held recruitment talks at Guangdong and Fujian universities last September, which generated strong interest from Hong Kong students.Yeung said: "As the largest employer in Hong Kong, the government continues to use diverse approaches to encourage young talent to join the civil service."
This includes allowing final year and third year university undergraduates to apply for civil servant positions, as well as commencing year-round recruitment for clerical assistant roles since last October.
