Rankings slide

Four local universities saw their positions drop in the annual Asian rankings by Times Higher Education.

University of Hong Kong and Chinese University stayed in the top 10, but HKU fell to sixth from fourth and CUHK slipped four spots to 10th.

University of Science and Technology ranked 12th, five places down from last year. City University rose a rung higher to 15th.

Polytechnic University fell five places to 19th and Baptist University leapt to No 63 from 105.

A spokesman said HKU continually strives for excellence in teaching, research and knowledge exchange.

A CUHK spokesman said it remains committed to striving for "excellence in research, education and innovation, and generating a positive impact."

HKUST said it valued the feedback, while PolyU and HKBU said they will reference the information to identify areas for enhancement. CityU said it will continue to contribute to Hong Kong and the international community.
