The newly redeveloped Huanggang Port will officially begin operations at 6.30am on October 12, introducing an upgraded co-location arrangement designed to enhance border clearance efficiency between Hong Kong and Shenzhen.
Operating under the innovative collaborative inspection and joint clearance model, the redesigned land port aims to streamline cross-boundary passenger journeys through consolidated processing.
The new boundary control point is equipped with 134 automated joint inspection e-channels and 68 traditional manned counters.
Registered cross-boundary travelers utilizing the automated e-channels will only need to queue once and inspect their identity documents once to complete both Hong Kong and mainland immigration departure and arrival procedures simultaneously.
Vehicular traffic will also benefit from enhanced operational efficiency through a joint one-stop clearance system.
Under this arrangement, designated vehicular lanes will integrate inspections across five regulatory agencies from both jurisdictions, allowing drivers to clear customs, health quarantine, and immigration requirements in a single stop.
Immigration authorities noted that eligible Hong Kong residents and mainland visitors can now register for the collaborative automated channels through various designated registration avenues.
Officials also reminded the public that travelers using the automated lanes must continue to carry valid travel documents that fulfill entry and exit criteria for both Hong Kong and the mainland when commuting across the border.
