The Hong Kong Jockey Club's digital betting platforms were temporarily down for around an hour at about 1pm yesterday, as the club called on punters to place their bets through other channels.
Some punters looking to place bets tried to access the system multiple times through the club's apps but to no avail. Messages popped up citing a connection error, with digital users unable to connect to the club's server to place bets on horse races and football matches.
"Please check your WiFi and 3G settings or try after moving to a place where the network signal is stable," the message suggested.
The club announced at around 1pm that users of its horse racing, football and Mark Six betting app Classic 3-in-1, football betting app GoalX, mobile TV channel HKJCTV and betting website may encounter network issues when placing bets.
However, the club stated that betting account logins and betting services remained normal. It also apologized for any inconvenience and stated it was following up on the issue.
The club issued another notice at about , 1.30pm telling punters that if they still ran into network issues when using the online betting services, they should use other betting channels to place their bets.
After about an hour of disruption, a third statement was released, saying:"Technical issue has been resolved and digital platforms have resumed."
This is not the first time that the club's betting system has experienced a breakdown. Punters were annoyed by failing to place bets on football matches on August 7, 2022, due to a 10-minute breakdown of the system.
