Li Qiang,who is expected to be named premier, has a master's degree from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
He studied in PolyU's faculty of business between 2003 and 2005 for his executive master of business administration degree.
The 63-year-old Li was also a deputy of Xi when Xi was the party secretary of Zhejiang from 2002 to 2007. Li worked directly under Xi as his chief of staff in Zhejiang.
Li is also viewed as a down-to-earth official as it was reported that he conducted grassroots inspections 12 times in one month when he was Jiangsu party chief from 2016 to 2017.
He also showed his international vision and his insight on high technology as several big national and international events were held in the province.
For example, when the China Internet Summit was held in Wuxi, Li oversaw the name changed to the World Internet of Things Exposition.
