Customs seizes $15m in ketamine at airport in 2 passenger drug busts

Hong Kong Customs arrested three passengers at Hong Kong International Airport on Tuesday in two separate drug trafficking cases, seizing about 38 kilogrammes of suspected ketamine with an estimated market value of about HK$15 million.

In the first case, a 51-year-old local woman and a 26-year-old local man arriving from Rome were found with about 36kg of suspected ketamine in their checked-in suitcases.

In the second case, a 40-year-old mainland male passenger arriving from Kuala Lumpur was found with about 2kg of suspected ketamine hidden in a false compartment of his suitcase.

The three suspects have been charged with drug trafficking and will appear at West Kowloon Magistrates' Courts on Thursday.

Customs said it would continue to use risk assessment to target passengers from high-risk regions.
