A 43-year-old engineer was granted HK$1,000 bail on Monday after being charged with criminal intimidation over alleged threats involving his wife and mother-in-law in Wong Tai Sin.

The defendant, Lau Chun-sum, is accused of threatening his mother-in-law, surnamed Wong, that he would harm her daughter, surnamed Yu, at a flat in Grand View Garden on August 23.
The case was heard at Kowloon City Magistrates’ Courts on Monday morning. Lau was not required to enter a plea.
As the case involved an alleged domestic dispute, Magistrate Philip Chan Chee-fa adjourned proceedings to September 24 to allow further discussions between the parties.
Lau was granted cash bail of HK$1,000.
As part of his bail conditions, he was ordered not to contact prosecution witnesses and to move out of his current residence.
