An elderly couple were found dead at a flat in Kwai Chung Estate on Sunday night in what police are investigating as a suspected murder-suicide.
The incident came to light around 11.32pm when an 80-year-old man was found lying on the ground outside Chun Kwai House, having apparently fallen from a height. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police then entered the flat and discovered the body of a woman in her 60s, also pronounced dead at the scene. She was found with multiple wounds believed to have been caused by a sharp object. A post-mortem examination will determine the exact cause of death.
The couple, who lived in a high-floor unit, were married. The woman worked as a cleaner at the airport while the man was unemployed. Sources said one of them had recently confided in family members about relationship issues and had expressed suicidal thoughts.
Police have cordoned off the area for investigation.
