Sino Group transformed its properties into vibrant hubs of festivity on the 29th anniversary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region’s establishment, drawing large crowds with eye-catching attractions, football fever and generous giveaways.
The property giant, which operates tmtplaza, Olympian City, Citywalk, China Hong Kong City and Lee Tung Avenue, rolled out a full-day programme blending community celebration, sports excitement and retail incentives. Thousands of national and HKSAR flags fluttered across dozens of the group’s properties, painting the city skyline in a sea of red and creating a striking visual symbol of unity and pride.
One of the biggest draws was a fleet of giant Gashapon machines stationed at the malls. The oversized capsule dispensers proved wildly popular, distributing more than 10,000 gifts and sparking long queues as shoppers eagerly participated in the lucky draw. The high-energy activity injected a strong dose of festive joy, with families and visitors leaving with smiles and rewards in hand.
Football enthusiasm further amplified the atmosphere. Olympian City, tmtplaza and Citywalk hosted free live telecasts of matches on massive video walls — including an impressive 430-inch screen at Olympian City and a 540-inch installation at tmtplaza — set against lush indoor lawns that recreated a stadium-like experience. The screenings attracted over 1,000 supporters at Olympian City and around 500 at tmtplaza, generating electric energy throughout the venues.

The morning screening party at Olympian City and tmtplaza reached a peak of excitement with attractive prize giveaways, including Nintendo Switch 2 consoles and exclusive LEGO football models. Adding star power to the occasion was legendary Hong Kong goalkeeper Yapp Hung-fai, affectionately known as “Hero Fai”. The former national team captain made a heart-warming three-generational appearance alongside his father and son at the “Morning Parent-Child Football Party”, embodying the spirit of family bonding and passing on the love for football across generations.
Beyond the entertainment, Sino Group sought to stimulate summer spending through a series of shopping incentives. Customers could instantly redeem up to HK$120 in mall vouchers via platforms such as S+ REWARDS, HKT ARLens, AlipayHK and HK01. These offers were complemented by more than 200 special promotions from merchants across the malls, aiming to boost local retail activity and sustain the celebratory momentum well beyond the public holiday.
The anniversary celebrations come at a time when Hong Kong is looking to strengthen local consumption and foster a stronger sense of belonging. By combining large-scale visual spectacles, family-oriented activities and practical shopping benefits, Sino Group’s malls successfully turned a national holiday into a memorable community experience.
