The “2026 Hong Kong Ocean Forum,” which was set to be hosted by district councillor Angel Chong Nga-ting — fiancée of business heir Derek Cheung — has been abruptly postponed, with no explanation provided.
Organized by Young DAB and the Bling Bling Ocean Foundation, the event had been scheduled to take place this Saturday (Mar 14) at the Hong Kong Maritime Museum.
In addition to Chong, other notable guests expected to attend included Legislative Council President Starry Lee Wai-king, Secretary for Environment and Ecology Tse Chin-wan, Under Secretary for Development David Lam, and lawmaker Perry Yiu Pak-leung.
In a statement posted on social media on Thursday, the organizer expressed regret over the “difficult decision” to postpone the forum until further notice shortly before the event.
They said they were actively coordinating a new date for the forum, adding that further details would be announced via email and social media once finalized.
While the organizers did not specify a reason for the postponement, speculation has arisen that it may be linked to Chong’s recent proposal, which has sparked widespread discussion.
Sources also suggested the event may be rescheduled after seminars on the spirit of the “two sessions” conclude.
