Hong Kong entrepreneur Derek Cheung, known as a controversial third-generation heir, has announced his engagement to district councilor Angel Chong Nga-ting. The news has reignited public attention on his long history of high-profile dating rumors involving actresses and online personalities.

Cheung revealed the proposal in a video posted on social media on Wednesday night (Mar 4). The clip shows him descending from a height of about 30 meters at his Repulse Bay mansion before kneeling to propose to Chong in a setting inspired by the Japanese anime Attack on Titan. Chong accepted, confirming the couple’s engagement.
The announcement quickly went viral online, with many netizens congratulating the couple while also revisiting Cheung’s colorful dating history.
Among the most widely discussed controversies was his alleged dispute with former Miss Hong Kong contestant Candy Yuen Ka-man in 2022. Yuen publicly accused Cheung and his father of mistreating her, describing the year she spent visiting the Cheung family home as “a nightmare” and making a series of accusations online.
Cheung later denied her claims, stating that they were only acquaintances who had met a few times and that he had offered financial help as a friend. He also claimed that Yuen repeatedly sent him private messages seeking further financial support after they stopped meeting.
Over the years, Cheung has been linked in media reports to several actresses and online personalities. TVB actresses Angel Chiang Ka-man and Sophie Yip Sin-man were among those rumored to have close ties to him at different times, while online personalities and program hosts such as Amber Chan Yeuk-sze and Jojo Wong Tsz-yan were briefly connected to him through collaborations or public appearances. In most cases, the women later clarified that they were only friends or colleagues.
