Chong, 25, is Hong Kong's youngest district councillor, elected in 2025 at age 23. A graduate of an international school in Hong Kong, she declined admission to a UK university to study at Peking University, completing a double degree at the School of Government and Guanghua School of Management. She has expressed her desire through studying in Beijing to understand the motherland's development.
Since taking office, Chong has been active in community work and patriotic education, and has served as a guest speaker at National Security Law forums.
Dubbed the "prettiest district councillor" for her sweet appearance, Chong was a hot contender in last year's Miss Hong Kong pageant but withdrew to focus on her council duties, citing the need to "protect the council's image and stay true to her original aspirations."
Chong has 28,000 Instagram followers and has jokingly stated her goal is to surpass legislator Regina Ip in popularity. When contacted by reporters following the engagement announcement, Chong declined to comment on personal matters, stating she would continue to serve Sai Kung residents.
