The inaugural hearing is scheduled for March 19, with further sessions on March 20, 24, 26 and 30, continuing through April 2.
The hearings will be held at the Multi-purpose Hall at City Gallery in Central. Proceedings will run from 10am to 1pm and resume from 2.15pm to 4.30pm each day.
The committee will begin with opening statements from legal representatives over several days, followed by oral testimony, including from residents of Wang Fuk Court. A list of witnesses will be published in due course on the committee’s website.
All hearings will be conducted in Cantonese, with simultaneous interpretation in Putonghua and English available.
In addition to the main venue, proceedings will be broadcast simultaneously at City Gallery and at the Lecture Theatre of the Hong Kong Central Library.
A total of 360 seats will be available for public observation, with half reserved for Wang Fuk Court residents. Members of the public may register for the remaining seats starting at 10am on Thursday (March 5).
Each person may register only once per session. Successful applicants will receive confirmation notices by March 17.
The Independent Committee, which commenced work on December 25, 2025, was established by the Chief Executive to review the causes of the fire and related issues at Wang Fuk Court, and to make recommendations aimed at preventing similar incidents in the future.
