A man allegedly poured oil on a roller skating rink at Wan Tsui Estate in Chai Wan on Sunday afternoon in apparent retaliation after arguing with parents over children using skateboards at the venue.
The incident occurred around 5.30pm. According to a parent who posted online, he had argued with the man over skateboarding at the rink. Estate management staff reportedly clarified that skateboards were permitted, but the man refused to accept this.
Online footage shows the man ignoring onlookers as he poured oil on the rink. When a child asked what he was doing, he replied: "I'm doing what I should do. If the Housing Department won't handle it, I will."
The parent who witnessed the act called police, but the man had left before officers arrived. The case has been temporarily classified as a dispute.
The concerned father warned neighbors to be cautious, fearing other children might slip on the oily surface.
