Police arrested a 50-year-old man on suspicion of drug trafficking and drink-driving after stopping a suspicious vehicle on Fanling Highway on Thursday.
Officers from the traffic New Territories North were patrolling along the highway around 5pm when they spotted a black private car acting suspiciously. They stopped the vehicle on Tai Wo Tung Road for inspection.
During the search, officers found multiple packets of suspected cannabis weighing about 111 grams, with an estimated street value of about HK$17,000.
The driver, a Tai surnamed local man, was arrested on suspicion of "trafficking in dangerous drugs." He also failed a breathalyzer test and was further arrested on suspicion of "drink-driving" and "using a mobile communication device while driving."
The suspect is being detained for investigation. The case has been handed over to the Tai Po district criminal investigation team.
