A three-vehicle collision on Fanling Highway early on Tuesday morning left a black Mercedes SUV overturned and a red Mercedes with severe front-end damage after crashing into water barriers.
The accident occurred around 4am on the Sheung Shui-bound section near Wo Hop Shek. The red Mercedes lost control and struck about 20 metres of water barriers in the fast lane, with the driver fleeing the scene. A black Mercedes SUV with dual-licence plates overturned onto its left side, sustaining damage to its roof and rear. A third vehicle involved left the scene.
Police conducted a breathalyser test on the black Mercedes driver, who exceeded the legal limit and was taken to a police station for further investigation. No injuries were reported.
The Transport Department said some lanes on the Sheung Shui-bound section near Wo Hop Shek were closed.
