Man arrested for allegedly breaking octogenarian's finger in Tai Wai dispute

A 25-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly breaking an elderly man's finger during a street dispute in Tai Wai.

Police were called to a bread shop on Tai Wai Road at around 7pm on Wednesday. Paramedics found an approximately 80-year-old man with a fractured finger and took him to Prince of Wales Hospital in a conscious state.

Sources said the altercation occurred on a narrow pavement. The elderly man was pulling a trolley when he collided with the younger man coming from the opposite direction. An argument ensued after the younger man reportedly kicked the trolley and accused the older man of blocking the path.

During the heated exchange, the elderly man reportedly raised his hand and pointed his index finger at the other. The 25-year-old Leung surnamed suspect then allegedly assaulted him, breaking the finger bone.

The suspect was arrested for "wounding" and taken into custody.
