Man drowns after swimming at Inspiration Lake

A middle-aged man drowned while swimming at Inspiration Lake on Monday afternoon and was pronounced dead despite rescue efforts.

Police received a report from security staff at around 3pm today that a man aged approximately 40 to 50 had been swimming in the lake but then went missing.

Firefighters arrived and searched the water, locating and pulling the man out around 4pm.

He was unconscious and rushed to North Lantau Hospital for emergency treatment, but could not be resuscitated.

Police are investigating the incident.
