Man arrested for assaulting wheelchair user on KMB over safety belt delay

A 53-year-old man was arrested for common assault after allegedly attacking a 67-year-old wheelchair user on a Kowloon Motor Bus (KMB) in Wong Tai Sin on Tuesday morning for wearing the seatbelt too slowly.

Police received a report at 11.38am today that the elderly man boarded the Route 38 bus at the Tin Ma Court stop.

While the driver was assisting him to fasten the safety belt, the suspect, surnamed Lee, reportedly became impatient with the time taken and argued with the victim.

The dispute escalated, and Lee allegedly assaulted the 67-year-old, causing head injuries.

The victim was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for treatment. Lee was arrested on suspicion of common assault.
