A Citybus airport express route A29 bus, originally heading from the airport to Tseung Kwan O via Lung Cheung Road, ended up in Jordan on Monday morning, with passengers claiming the driver said he was lost and told them to get off.
The bus stopped near Man Ying Building on Jordan Road. A passenger posted online that the driver said he didn't know the way and asked everyone to disembark, noting about 90 percent of passengers were tourists and expressing frustration.
Citybus explained the incident occurred after a truck fire on Ting Kau Bridge near the Tsing Yi Northwest Interchange forced multiple bus routes to detour, with Tsing Long Highway partially closed toward Kowloon. During the sudden diversion, the A29 driver contacted the control centre for further instructions and briefly stopped in Jordan.
The company immediately dispatched an inspector to assist, guiding the bus back to its original route. A passenger confirmed the bus continued without missing stops.
The truck fire occurred around 11am, with the driver escaping unhurt. Firefighters extinguished the blaze in 15 minutes.
